Hello, I seemed to have developed shoulder pain in my right shoulder and is getting progressively worse when moving. Any ideas warmth or cold. This is a result of an idiot young male charging at me when coming out of the hospital in september - it makes me so mad. I just think I have been cursed at that hospital as my run of bad luck is unprecedented. i think i might have tore something rather than it being RA. However will get it checked out when I go for my appointment on Friday. Any tips would be greatfully received Thanks in advance

Are you sure you dont mean a sweetie bag :) No dont have a wheatie bag and i dont have a microwave. Totally confused with hot and cold - no redness or swelling. think the rotar cuff may have got torn in the impact. have tried putting ice pack on but near impossible as ice pack is stiff rectangular like the one you put in cats timer feeder. I have rubbed some muscle ache stuff on it. I really need to stock up on incidentals!

Have you got a bag of frozen peas Mari? That will bend more. I had a very painful shoulder and the physio recommended ice packs. I tend to use either heat or cold depending on which gives the most relief! Hope you find something to ease it.

The nurse said to me last week - if a joint is hot - use cold. If you are feeling the cold in joint - try hot. Haven't tried it yet.

thanks for the pointers. the joint is neither hot nor cold - just pain and not too mobile but definitely think its not RA as different type of pain. It feels like after i got the impact like I have had a massive bang of something. I hope it eases over night as I do like my sleep and am so cranky if I dont get my bedtime quota.

So sorry you're in so much pain from the shoulder but best to have it checked out as it could well be rheumatoid..
We don't have a microwave either so I use frozen peas/ice packs or my tens machine. I also use special arnica massage oil, smells divine as well as being reasonably soothing.
Failing that, turn to big glasses of wine!
Much Love,
Amanda

Sounds nasty, probably an idea to get your gp to check it out, but hope the frozen peas help meanwhile.
